On April 19, a driverless mining truck named "Shuanglin K7" was unveiled in Shanghai. This vehicle is the world’s first mining truck equipped with distributed electric drive-by-wire corner module technology and supports Level 4 autonomous driving, making it suitable for open-pit mine transportation scenarios. The truck measures 13.79 meters long, 5.7 meters wide, and 5.2 meters high, with a rated payload capacity of 158 metric tons and a maximum gross vehicle weight of 248 metric tons. It features an 8x4 drivetrain layout, a minimum turning radius of 12 meters, and a 100-cubic-meter dump box. Its maximum speed when fully loaded is 29 km/h, and its emergency braking distance is less than 12 meters. The Shuanglin K7 supports battery swapping in just five minutes and is equipped with a regenerative braking system capable of recovering up to 85% of kinetic energy, enabling uninterrupted 24/7 autonomous operations. The distributed electric drive-by-wire corner module technology was co-developed by the manufacturer and Tsinghua University. Simulated operational data indicates that implementing platooned autonomous operations can increase overall transport efficiency by 35%, reduce typical mine safety accident risks by approximately 90%, and lower maintenance, servicing, and tire wear costs over the vehicle’s full lifecycle by about 25% compared to conventional diesel-powered mining trucks.
