FAW Hongqi recently announced the launch of its first rugged off-road SUV, named the G919, scheduled to hit the market in the second half of 2026. The vehicle made its public debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, following an earlier showcase of its concept prototype at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. In the model name, “G” stands for the backbone of “Guo Che” (national car), “9” signifies its flagship positioning and comprehensive service offering, and “1” represents top-tier product performance. In terms of design, the G919 features a “boxy” silhouette, blending Hongqi’s signature Chinese luxury design language with a large vertical chrome grille and retro-inspired rectangular full-LED headlights. Standard factory equipment includes heavy-duty front and rear bumpers, dual-side tow hooks, a roof-mounted heavy-load platform, and spotlights. A roof-integrated LiDAR system enables advanced intelligent driving capabilities. Powering the G919 is a 2.0T range-extended hybrid powertrain paired with a quad-motor all-wheel-drive system, delivering a combined maximum output of 620 kW and peak torque of 1,320 N·m, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds. It offers a pure electric CLTC range of 280 km and a total combined range of up to 1,350 km. Built on a body-on-frame chassis architecture, the vehicle is equipped with air suspension and mechanical differential locks on both front and rear axles, balancing exceptional off-road capability with on-road comfort.
