Earlier media reports said that Ford has started cooperation with Volkswagen on new energy vehicles and will use the Volkswagen’s MEB platform to expand its electric Mustang lineup. The IIA learned from Ford that the company currently has no plans to build Mustang electric vehicles based on Volkswagen's MEB platform.

Ford also stated: "We remain on track to offer one MEB-based fully electric car for our European customers and are considering a second vehicle."
