In March of this year, the 7 millionth Octavia rolled off the assembly line at Skoda Mlada Boleslav and reached a mass production milestone with special significance for Skoda. IIA learned from Skoda that Mlada Boleslav plant has created another milestone, with 3 million EA211 engines manufactured at the plant. The Mlada Boleslav plant has been producing EA211 engines since 2012 and currently manufactures four types of these engines.

Michael Oeljeklaus, director of global production and logistics at Skoda Motors, said: "It has been more than 120 years to manufacture reliable and technologically innovative engines at the Mlada Boleslav plant, which is the plant with the longest history of engine production in the entire automotive industry One. The milestone of producing 3 million EA211 engines proves the importance of Skoda’s expertise and components within the Volkswagen Group."

Skoda manufactured the first engine in 1899, and the first EA211 engine was rolled off the plant in Mlada Boleslav in 2012. Currently, about 800 workers at the plant manufacture three- and four-cylinder engines with displacements ranging from 1.0 to 1.6 liters. These engines are all used in Skoda vehicles and some Volkswagen Group models of other brands.

Due to comprehensive safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Mlada Boleslav plant produces only 1,900 engines per day, compared with 2,400 engines per day.
