U.S. Defense Department Updates "Military-Linked List," Adds Alibaba, Baidu, BYD, NIO and Other Chinese Firms

On February 14, the U.S. Department of Defense updated its "Chinese Military Companies" (CMC) list, adding several Chinese firms including Alibaba, Baidu, BYD, NIO, BOE Technology, JA Solar, Trina Solar, Unitree Robotics, and RoboSense. These companies operate across sectors such as internet services, new energy vehicles, robotics, LiDAR, display panels, and photovoltaics. Notably, the list was briefly published on February 13 before being swiftly removed; the reissued version contains no changes. Companies included on the list may face U.S. sanctions, including investment restrictions.
