At its annual press event, Audi confirmed that the highly anticipated Concept C electric sports car will enter production in 2027—one year earlier than originally planned. The vehicle will be built at the Böllinger Höfe plant, formerly home to the R8, and will slot between the discontinued TT and R8 in terms of positioning, though it won’t carry either nameplate. As a fully electric model, it will feature an electrically operated Targa roof—the first Audi to adopt such a design. Slightly larger than the R8, the car prioritizes performance over range, likely using a relatively smaller battery pack to keep weight in check. Powertrain options are expected to include both a rear-wheel-drive single-motor variant and a Quattro all-wheel-drive dual-motor version. Audi’s CEO projected annual sales in the “low five-digit” range.
