Tesla’s Semi electric truck is gaining market traction, with California-based logistics company KingFio Trucking planning to replace its entire fleet of 27 diesel trucks with the Semi. Priced under $300,000—roughly double the cost of a diesel truck—the Semi offers significantly lower maintenance costs and, in its long-range version, delivers up to 800 kilometers (about 500 miles) per charge, enabling longer-haul transportation. The Semi features a centered steering wheel layout and comes standard with advanced driver-assistance systems. Its simplified operation—eliminating the need for a clutch or gear shifting—reduces driver fatigue. To support fleet operations, Tesla is building dozens of dedicated charging stations along major freight corridors in California, Texas, Seattle, and New York, with stations rolling out this summer. These chargers can replenish 60% of the battery in just 30 minutes. The project has also received $195 million in subsidies from the state of California, accelerating the logistics industry’s transition to electric vehicles.
