During the Beijing Auto Show, Xiaomi Auto announced the establishment of a European R&D center focused on research in high performance, luxury, and innovation. The core team comprises experts and designers formerly from automotive brands such as BMW, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Mercedes-Benz. The center is headed by General Manager Rudolf Dittrich, who previously led the BMW M4 GT3 project. Claus-Dieter Groll, head of the vehicle dynamics department, was involved in the development of multiple BMW models, including the 3 Series, 4 Series, Z4, X5, X6, and X7. The Xiaomi YU7 GT, set to launch at the end of May, is the first model developed with deep involvement from this team. Additionally, Xiaomi Group previously disclosed plans to officially enter the European electric vehicle market in 2027 and expects its automotive business to become profitable in the second half of 2026.
