Tesla has officially rolled out a virtual queuing system for its Supercharger stations, aimed at resolving disputes caused by drivers competing for charging spots during peak hours. The feature uses the Tesla mobile app to automatically detect whether a driver is approaching a fully occupied charging station and determines eligibility to join the virtual queue based on their real-time location. Eligible drivers receive a push notification informing them that they must wait in line, along with their current position in the queue and the number of vehicles ahead. The system also prompts drivers to confirm whether they wish to begin the charging process immediately. This mechanism relies on drivers voluntarily adhering to the rules and only proceeding to a charger when it’s their turn. Tesla previously stated it was developing solutions to address congestion at Supercharger stations in high-demand areas.
