2026-07-08 18:17:00On July 8, under the full supervision of a Guinness World Records adjudicator, the Geely Galaxy A7 EM set a new Guinness World Record for "Greatest distance driven by a plug-in hybrid production sedan on a full tank of fuel and full battery charge without refueling or recharging," achieving a remarkable range of 2,608.360 kilometers. This surpassed the previous record of 2,369.950 kilometers held by the Chery Fengyun A8L by over 238 kilometers. The record attempt lasted five days, with approximately 10 hours of driving each day, primarily along national highways traversing four provinces: Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, and Guangdong—simulating real-world long-distance road trip conditions for typical users. The test vehicle encountered high-energy-consumption scenarios including prolonged mountain ascents, tunnel clusters, and urban traffic congestion. The car used was a standard, commercially available production model with no modifications made to its powertrain or battery systems. The vehicle is equipped with Geely’s self-developed Raytheon AI Electric Hybrid 2.0 system, featuring a dedicated 1.5L hybrid engine with a thermal efficiency of 47.26%, a single-speed DHT transmission, and the Shield Golden Brick battery. It delivers a CLTC-rated all-electric range of 235 kilometers and an official combined full-tank/full-charge range of 2,150 kilometers. Its AI Cloud Power 2.0 energy management strategy dynamically adjusts the petrol-electric driving logic based on real-time road conditions to optimize energy consumption.
