XPeng X9 Air Suspension Fails Frequently in Heat; Company Extends Warranty to Cover Used Car Owners

Recently, amid a heatwave in Chongqing, multiple XPeng X9 owners have reported issues with their vehicles’ air suspension systems, including air leaks and one-sided body sagging, which have impaired normal driving. These malfunctions typically occurred shortly after the vehicles were driven out of underground parking lots where they had been parked for several hours, triggering sudden air suspension system warnings and causing the vehicle body to sink. In an official statement, XPeng Motors explained that under high-temperature conditions, frequent manual or automatic adjustments of the air suspension height could activate the compressor’s thermal protection mechanism. However, some owners questioned whether the issue stemmed from design flaws or insufficient durability of components within the air suspension system. In response, XPeng has issued a public apology and announced that, effective immediately, the warranty period for the front air spring system of the X9 will be extended from the original 5 years or 120,000 kilometers to 8 years or 160,000 kilometers. This enhanced warranty covers four key components: the front air spring strut assembly, the air supply unit, the solenoid valve box of the air supply unit, and the air reservoir tank. Importantly, this extended warranty remains valid regardless of vehicle ownership transfer, meaning second-hand owners are equally entitled to the coverage.
