SAIC Sales Report January-June 2018, VOLKSWAGEN and WULING both exceeded 1 million units

On July 4, SAIC Motor Co., Ltd. released its sales report January-June 2018. INA learned from the report that SAIC Motor’s cumulative sales in the first half of this year reached 3.52 million units, an increase of 10.88% compared to the same period a year ago. Among them, with a sales volume of 1,051,635 vehicles, SAIC-GM-WULING became the sales champion of SAIC’s subsidiaries in the first half of the year. In addition, SAIC Volkswagen’s January-June cumulative sales also exceeded 1 million units.

SAIC MAXUS Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary company, acquired YUEJIN from NAVECO Co., Ltd., the joint venture of SAIC. Since January 1 2018, the production and sales volume of YUEJING vehicles has been officially transferred by NAVECO Co., Ltd. and has been included in SAIC MAXUS Co., Ltd. The data of the same period in 2017 have been adjusted accordingly.

The independent brand is the main driving force for SAIC to maintain double-digit growth in the first half of the year. SAIC Passenger Vehicle Co., Ltd. continued to maintain strong growth momentum. ROEWE and MG sold 56,273 new cars in June, up 65.2% over the same period. The cumulative sales volume in the first half year reached 359,007 units, up 53.67% over the same period. Among them, the performance of new energy vehicles stands out particularly. After breaking through 10,000 vehicles in May, it broke the record again in June, reaching 13,162 vehicles, with an increase of 456% compared to the same period. The cumulative sales volume in the first half of the year was 44,000, exceeding the sales volume of 2017. It is worth mentioning that the sales of internet car models of the two brands accounted for 40.6%. In addition, the cumulative sales volume of SAIC MAXUS reached 66,617 units, up 36.58% over the same period of last year.
