Currently, SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile (abbreviated as SGMW) Baojun brand owns the Baojun 510, a small-sized SUV, and the Baojun 530 and the Baojun 560, two compact SUVs. IIA has learnt from SGMW of the exterior detail pictures of all-new Baojun SUV, known internally under the codename CN210S. The new SUV is based around a new platform, aiming at higher-level upmarket with its pricing at over 100,000 yuan RMB (approx. US$14,600), and plans to be introduced to the market at the end of this year.
Baojun enabled a new design team for designing the new SUV. The “Interstellar Geometry” design is highly technological and forward-looking. The design of the star-studded grille is really eye-catching, with small stars interspersing on a well-designed surface, which presents different effects when seeing at different angles. The DRLs and headlights of the new SUV are designed with upper and lower splits, which is the same as that of the 510 and 530. The “Future Eye” LED DRLs extend to the side of the car, which serves to widen the visual effect of the front end.
The body side of the new SUV is innovatively designed with shoulder lines. Two shoulder lines are opposite to each other, simulating the track of the spacecraft accelerated by planetary gravitational field, as if it were a “gravitational sling” in space. What’s more, the second shoulder line adopts a very fiddly and delicate anti-concave shape. Through the reflection of natural light, the shoulder line is seemed to be painted with a layer of highlight, which brings the body a stronger visual effect.
The tail design is quite simple, and the geometric folds design from top to bottom enriches the visual hierarchy. The star-rail-shape taillight strip is now popular design and is integrated on the rear tailgate. This unique and costly design, offering an integrated visual effect with artistic beauty, is really stunning after the taillights on.
