The ES6, NIO’s second SUV, began accepting reservations in December. IIA learned from NIO that the ES6 was officially released, which is priced from RMB358,000 to RMB498,000 without subsidies. A total of three editions, including the Standard Edition, the Performance Edition and the Premier Edition, were launched, among which the Premier Edition will be delivered in priority next June. The ES6 features a new family X-Bar design. In terms of cruising range, the ES6 offers two battery options with the best for some 510km (317 miles) of range (NEDC).

The exterior design of the ES6 is similar to that of the ES8. The front end of the ES6 adopts the family X-bar design. The headlights are in a design of separating from the daytime running lights, and the chrome trim and the silvery lower guard under the bumper deliver visually striking.

The ES6 side body is full-bodied, with chrome-plated elements on top of the suspended roof and hidden door handles to make the new car sportier and more technological. In the rear part, the "heartbeat" LED taillights on both sides mated with the large dip angle D-pillar delivers a strong recognition of the new car. The bottom guard is embellished with a black smudged metal sill trim in a shark fin shape for a sporty look.

The interior of the ES6 is wrapped in leather, including a three-trim sport steering wheel, front seats and the roof cover. The front of the center console is equipped with an 8.8-inch high-definition digital dashboard and an embedded 11.3-inch second-generation multi-touch center console screen to enhance the sense of technology inside the car. What’s more, the interior offers three colors: “Tech Black, Urban Brown, and Extreme Gray”.

In configuration, the ES6 is equipped with NOMI in-car AI system (including the voice interaction and sound source positioning), NIO OS intelligent operating system and applications, user account system, NIO hotline call, remote interconnectivity control and other functions. In addition, the ES6 body and chassis are made of aluminum alloy and carbon fiber hybrid structure to ensure the safety of new cars while reducing the weight of the whole vehicle.

In terms of power, the ES6 also adopts the pure electric drive mode of the front and rear dual motors, mated with the intelligent electronic four-wheel drive system to provide two power configurations: the standard and the performance edition. The former uses front and rear dual PM motors and has an integrated output power of 320kW. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is 5.6 seconds. The latter adopts the dual motor layout of the front PM motor and the rear IM motor, providing an integrated output of 400kW and an acceleration time of 4.7 seconds from 0 to 100km/h.

In terms of cruising range, the ES6 provides two battery packs of 70kWh and 84 kWh. The cruising range (NEDC) of the standard edition is 410km and 480 km respectively, and that of the performance edition is 430km and 510km respectively.
