5,500 cars per day, FAW-Volkswagen annual output exceeds 2M

This year marks the first year of FAW-Volkswagen implementing "2025 Strategy". The company has upgraded its five main production bases and has successively put into production a variety of main products. Recently, IIA learned from FAW-Volkswagen that the roll-out ceremony of company’s 2 millionth new car was held this year. Member of boards of FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. and general manager Liu Yigong and other executives attended the ceremony. The annual output exceeding 2 million vehicles brought FAW-Volkswagen a successful ending in 2018 and made a good start for the coming 2019.

Mr. Liu: From the establishment of the company to an annual output of 100,000 units, FAW-Volkswagen spent 9 years. From 100,000 to 1 million, 11 years. However, we merely spent 7 years from 1 million to 2 million.

Five main production bases were fully constructed, providing 3-million-unit of annual output

Up till now, the five main production bases of FAW-Volkswagen, which are located at Changchun, Foshan, Chengdu, Qingdao and Tianjin, have been fully constructed. Among them, Changchun Audi Q plant boasts an annual output of 150,000 units, Qingdao base 300,000 units, Foshan base Phase II project 300,000 units, and Tianjin base 300,000 units. These are four new plants built this year, which add an annual output of 1.05 million units for the enterprise.

After adding 1.05 million units, the enterprise has achieved a leap of nearly 3 million units annual output. Among them, Changchun base can reach 1.05 million units, Chengdu base 700,000 units, Qingdao base 300,000 units, Foshan base 600,000 units, and Tianjin base 300,000 units.

In order to implement the “2025 Strategy” proposed by the Group, the company spared no effort in introducing the platform. In addition to the modular platform MQB, FAW-Volkswagen has introduced the new energy platform MEB. By 2020, FAW-Volkswagen Foshan base will become a model plant for FAW-Volkswagen's electric vehicle, and the assembly of the MEB platform battery system will also be carried out here.

From January to November this year, FAW-Volkswagen, sold 1,856,676 new cars, including imported Audi cars, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%. At the same time, the expansion of the line-up also provided momentum for the improvement of production capacity. Up till now, Volkswagen and Audi have launched many models including the new Bora, the first SUV T-ROC, the new CC, the new Audi Q5L, the new Audi Q2L and the TAYRON, containing all kinds of sedans and SUVs.

Summary: Year 2018 is a historic year for FAW-Volkswagen. In addition to the introduction of new plants, new platforms and new products, the annual output of exceeding 2 million will also be recorded in history. Moreover, this year marks the 30th anniversary of cooperation between FAW and Audi, both sides will continue deepening their cooperation.
