Volkswagen's new Sagitar has been officially launched, and will soon be introduced to China as the replacement sagitar model currently on sale. Recently, IIA learned from the Chengdu Environmental Protection Bureau that the Chengdu Branch of FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. issued an EIA supplement to the next-generation project of the new Sagitar model. According to public information, the Chengdu FAW-Volkswagen plant will renovate the original Jetta NF production line to form the production capacity of the new Sagitar (NCS NF), which will replace the original Jetta's 300,000 units/year capacity without adding new capacity.

In this technical transformation project, the production models and production capacity of the first and second phases of the project remain unchanged, maintaining the production capacity of the original 300,000 vehicles/year of NCS GP. The production lines of Jetta NF and NCS GP will be rebuilt and expanded in the third and fourth phases, and the production capacity of both will be replaced by the production capacity of NCS NF models, with an annual output of 300,000 units.

Guess: In the short term, Volkswagen may sell new and old SAGITAR models together and may gradually reduce the production of the old models.

After the completion of the renovation project, the FAW-Volkswagen Chengdu plant will have a production capacity of 300,000 units per year for NCS NF (all new generation Sagitar) and NCS GP. The production scale of 600,000 vehicles per year in Chengdu is unchanged. The new generation of Sagitar may have significant changes in body size. It is expected to further prepare for the new model of FAW-Volkswagen's new brand (probably named "JETA") to be introduced into the Chinese market.

The new Sagitar will be built on the MQB platform with a new family design language. In addition, the R-Line model has been added.

In terms of appearance, the new SAGITAR is more dynamic, with the front face equipped with the latest hexagonal style air intake grille and connected to the headlights to extend the visual width of the vehicle. The lines on the hood extend down to the headlights. The rear design is very simple, the internal structure of the taillight is re-adjusted, and the LED light source is added. The bottom guard of the bumper is made of a different material than the body.

The new Sagitar offers a variety of configuration options, including optional high-profile LED headlights, front grille atmosphere lights, chrome tailpipes, rearview camera, back cover chrome strips, different tail logos, window trim strips, shark-fin-shape antennas, window trim strips, chrome door handles, skylights, different rims, etc.

In terms of power, the new Sagitar will be powered by a 1.4T DJS turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 110 kW or a 1.2T DJN turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 85 kW. In terms of the transmission system, both engines are equipped with manual or dual clutch transmissions.
