Over 940k cars have been recalled so far, most are airbags menace

With a rapid development of the society, automobiles have become an important tool of travel in people's lives. In China, the soaring car parc, vehicle safety and quality are still the focus of attention. Up to March 14, 2019, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) had issued a total of 34 recall notices.

After summarizing the recall data, IIA found that a total of 941,183 vehicles were recalled, a significant 70% decrease over the same period in 2018. Among them, 255,943 units are Chinese brands, ranked first. German and Japanese brands are followed by with 240,188 and 198,450 vehicles were recalled respectively. The reasons for the recall included hazards of airbags, steering assist, engine and brake brakes. The number of airbag hazard recalls was the highest, involving a total of 271,798 vehicles in six recalls.

1. The number of recalls of Chinese vehicles has dropped significantly compared to the same period in 2018.

2. The recalls of Chinese and German brands accounted for more than 50% of the total

From the classification of the car, 255,943 Chinese brand vehicles were recalled, accounting for 27% of the total. 240,188 German brand vehicles were recalled, accounting for 26%. 198,450 Japanese vehicles were recalled, accounting for 21%. 173,968 European brand vehicles recalled, accounting for about 18%. Among the rest, the Korean brand did not be recalled, the US brand vehicles were recalled 63,329 units, and the French brand vehicles were recalled 9,305 units. 3. Reasons of recalls

Up to March 14, the SAMR had issued 34 recall notices of 23 kinds of safety hazards. Among them, the most recalled are still airbag hazards, with a total of 271,798 vehicles were recalled in six recalls. The steering assistance, fuel pump and dashboard problems, each was recalled for three times. The number of recalled cars was 116,943 units, 93,641 units and 35,555 units respectively. Brake brakes and the electric tailgates were recalled twice. The drive shaft, the hybrid system, the brake pedal, the suspension, the glass and the air conditioner had one recall each.
