Lexus set a new record for sales in China in 2018, and sold a total of 160,468 new cars, a year-on-year increase of 21%. When the sales volume of the passenger car market in China fell, the market performance of Lexus was not affected by its “imported model” status and continued to maintain rapid growth. On May 6, IIA learned from the Lexus official that Lexus sold 21,839 vehicles in China in April this year, an increase of 46.9%. The first-month sales exceeded 20,000 units for the first time, surpassing the US for the first time and becoming the world's No.1 market.
It is worth noting that the Lexus H-Intelligence models sold 7,863 units in April, accounting for 36% of the month's sales, and the monthly sales and proportions set a new record. It also further proves the user's recognition of Lexus hybrid technology. Since the launch of the first H-Intelligence model in 2005, Lexus has introduced 11 products with full hybrid systems to the global market, with more than 1.45 million users. In addition, the new ES's sales in April reached 10,629 units, and it was the first Lexus model to break 10,000 units sales record in China.
In terms of product, Lexus will continue to increase its product scale, currently selling 11 models in 18 series. From the flagship models: new LS and LC to the best-selling models: new ES, the new compact UX of the first compact SUV and the new LM that was launched in China not long ago, Lexus's layout in various market segments is getting better, and this will also help Lexus hit 1 million users in China.
