On the evening of May 17, BYD announced that it would increase its capital by 150 million yuan to DENZA New Energy. Another shareholder, Daimler Greater China Ltd. (DGRC) will increase its capital by 150 million yuan. After the shareholders of the two sides increased their capital, BYD and Daimler still hold 50% of the shares.
BYD said that the capital increase of the shareholders is used for daily operations and expenses including new product R&D, special equipment and mold investment, new product promotion, repayment of principal, interest expenses, and the building of service network.
During Auto Shanghai 2019, DENZA Auto released its brand new logo. The lines of the new logo are more intense and show a modern character. The logo design retains the closed body and represents the sincere cooperation between Daimler and BYD. In addition, DENZA will publish its new brand positioning and product trends at the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macau International Auto Show that will open on June 1, 2019.
In addition, DENZA released a new concept car preview picture. Seeing from the picture, this model is likely to be an SUV. The new car adopts the popular headlight strip. Fog light and lower air grille also adopt LED light groups for embellishment. It is reported that Daimler will mainly focus on the exterior and interior design, and BYD will develop the battery, motor and electric control system.
