1. Brilliance Group’s new chief engineer

August 1st, Gao Weimin officially took the post of chief engineer of Brilliance Group, and will be fully responsible for the R&D and quality improvement of the vehicle products of Brilliance Group. Mr. Gao's appointment will play a positive role in promoting the R&D level, technology reserves and vehicle manufacturing capabilities of the Group.

Mr. Gao has nearly 40 years of professional experience in the automotive industry and has a high reputation in the industry. 2. Porsche’s new VP

Since August 1, 2019, Michael Ramsey has succeeded Daniel Schmollinger as the Vice President of Network Management and Development at Porsche China. To meet the rapidly growing customer demand in the Porsche China market, Mr. Ramsey will be fully responsible for the strengthening of the dealer network and the exploration of new retail models.

Mr. Ramsey joined Porsche in 2010 and has been working at Porsche for 9 years. Prior to joining Porsche China, he worked for Porsche Automotive North America and served as Director of Sales Projects and Services, focusing on corporate management including sales, digital marketing, customer service and business development, and innovation.

On his new position, Mr. Ramsey will lead a number of dealer support programs, supervise the construction of dealer facilities, develop relevant standards and be responsible for the transformation of digital retail, and promote the business of Porsche China Talent Academy to ensure the professionalism of Porsche China distributors and Service capabilities.

3. SAIC-GM upgrades services

It is reported that SAIC-GM will launch two upgrading services, covering two main areas: powertrain and vehicle networking. All SAIC-GM’s Buick, Chevrolet and Cadillac models that comply with the “Nation-VI” standard will enjoy the original warranty service of 8 years or 160,000 km of main parts such as engines and gearboxes. At the same time, the lifetime free data traffic of the OnStar 4G car networking applications of the three major brand users will be greatly expanded from 24 gigabytes per year to 100 gigabytes per year.

In terms of car networking, SAIC-GM's new-generation car-linked system has been applied to Buick, Chevrolet and Cadillac models, providing users with cloud music, cloud radio, cloud navigation, cloud voice assistant and other car-linked application services. It also provides a guarantee for an open and secure car networking cloud experience.

SAIC-GM said that as the technology continues to be upgraded, OTA remote upgrading, virtual keys, WeChat interconnection, fleet functions, and dedicated accounts will also be deployed on more SAIC-GM models. Obviously, in the face of the sluggish Chinese auto market, SAIC-GM hopes to further improve user satisfaction through services.
