CATL triples profits in 2019, earning 4.4 bln

CATL is the world's leading supplier of power battery systems. It has established cooperative relationships with many domestic and foreign automobile manufacturers just 9 years after its establishment. IIA learned from CATL that CATL's 2019 annual financial report has been officially released.

In 2019, CATL realized a total operating income of more than 45.545 bln yuan, an operating profit of more than 5.553 bln yuan, a total profit of more than 5.552 bln yuan, and a net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies of more than 4.356 bln yuan.

There are three main reasons for the increase in CATL performance in 2019 over the previous year:

1. With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry, the demand for the power battery market has increased compared to the same period last year;

2. The company strengthened market development, released the initial production capacity of the cable, and increased production and sales accordingly;

3. The company's expense management was reasonably optimized, and the ratio of expenses to revenue decreased.

As of the end of 2019, CATL's total assets amounted to RMB 101,482,293,700 the owner's equity attributable to shareholders of the listed company was RMB 37,740,873,770, and the share capital was 2,208,399,700 million shares.

The main reason for the increase in total assets compared with the same period last year was that the company's operating scale in 2019 further expanded with the rapid growth of the new energy vehicle market, and fixed assets, monetary funds and long-term investments grew rapidly. The main reason for the increase in the owner's equity attributable to shareholders of listed companies compared with the same period last year was the increase in the company's net profit in 2019.

At present, CATL has reached cooperation with a number of multinational car companies, including Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Volvo, Volkswagen, Peugeot Citroen, Jaguar Land Rover and other car companies, and recently reached an agreement with Tesla, in the future or research and development Cobalt-free batteries are also used in Tesla domestic models.
