BYD sold over 30k in April, fuel up 36% YoY

BYD announced its sales results for April 2020. IIA received news from BYD that the brand sold a total of 31,076 new cars in April, of which 18,814 were sold in fuel vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 36%. NEV sold a total of 12,262 vehicles, an increase of 4.2% from the previous month. In addition, BYD's large and medium-sized luxury car, Han, has officially debuted on April 30. It is reported that the new car will be officially launched in June this year.


According to data released, BYD sold 31,076 new cars in April 2020. Among them, fuel-powered vehicles performed the most prominently, with 18,814 new vehicles sold, a year-on-year increase of 36% and a month-on-month increase of 2.6%.


In April, a total of 12,262 NEVs were sold, an increase of 4.2% from the previous month, and the total production and sales volume exceeded 770,000 units. In terms of market segment, BYD sold a total of 9,966 BEVs and 2,296 PHEVs in April, a 72.6% increase over the previous month.


The BYD Song series continued to perform well in April, with a total of 17,651 new cars sold, a year-on-year increase of 81% and a quarter-on-quarter increase of 9.4%, with cumulative sales of nearly 700,000 units. Specifically, Song Pro sold 13,791 vehicles, an increase of 3.4% from the previous month. In addition, the Song Classic Edition, which was launched in mid-March, has sold 2,176 units in less than 2 months, up 96.2% from the previous month, while Song MAX sold 1,684 units, and the cumulative sales exceeded 240,000 units.


Moreover, the Qin series also has a good performance. The series sold a total of 7,759 new cars in April, of which the new Qin was 6,660, an increase of 70.3% year-on-year, and cumulative sales have exceeded 250,000. The Tang series sold a total of 2,217 new cars in April, with cumulative sales exceeding 210,000. Yuan series sold a total of 1,591 new cars in April, with cumulative sales exceeding 170,000. The e-series sold 1,510 new cars in April, of which the e2 model had the most sales, with 1,322 new cars sold, an increase of 8.8% over the previous month.
