Zhao Changjiang, former General Manager of BYD’s premium EV brand Denza, has officially joined Zhijie Auto—a joint venture between Chery and Huawei—as Executive Director and Executive Vice President, three months after leaving his previous role. He will take full charge of brand building and market sales. With nearly 16 years of experience at BYD, Zhao previously spearheaded the establishment of Denza’s nationwide sales network, which comprises over 600 stores. Zhijie Auto currently sells just over 10,000 units per month, significantly trailing behind Huawei-backed Aito (Wenjie). The company is now accelerating the development of its independent sales channels. Starting in 2025, Zhijie has been restructured into an independent subsidiary, backed by multi-billion-yuan funding and a 5,000-strong R&D team. Zhao’s appointment is widely seen as a crucial step in strengthening Zhijie’s high-end brand operations and channel expansion capabilities.
