Following collaborations in chip foundry, OLED displays, and energy storage batteries, Samsung and Tesla have announced a new partnership. According to foreign media reports, Samsung Electronics has reached an agreement with Tesla to supply a dedicated automotive 5G modem for its electric vehicles. The product was designed by Samsung’s System LSI division and modularized by its subcontractors. Unlike 5G modems used in smartphones, the automotive version must meet more stringent environmental requirements, including resistance to extreme temperatures and vibrations, and ensure a service life exceeding 10 years. Samsung custom-developed this critical communications component specifically to meet Tesla’s requirements, marking a further deepening of their collaboration.
