On January 13, Tesla China updated its official website, revealing that more affordable versions of the Model 3 and Model Y are set to launch in the domestic market, with prices expected to drop below RMB 200,000. Compared to the standard models, these new variants eliminate over 20 features, including the front light bar, power-folding side mirrors, laminated acoustic glass, and power-adjustable seats, along with reduced performance and range. Despite the stripped-down specifications, Tesla’s strong brand appeal helped it achieve impressive sales in December 2025: 65,874 units of the Model Y (ranking first across all vehicle categories) and nearly 28,000 units of the Model 3 (ranking eighth). Industry insiders note that Tesla is targeting the lower-end market by simplifying its existing models, and even with fewer features, its brand power is still expected to sustain strong sales momentum.
