Geely Galaxy Starray EM-i (sold overseas as the Geely Starray EM-i) recently set a Guinness World Record for "lowest fuel consumption by a plug-in hybrid production SUV completing the Sydney-to-Melbourne route" during a real-world road test covering 1,056 kilometers. The vehicle achieved an average fuel consumption of just 3.83 liters per 100 kilometers. The test route included plains, hills, mountain roads, and urban traffic congestion, comprehensively simulating everyday long-distance driving conditions. The Starray EM-i is powered by Geely’s Thunder Power EM-i hybrid system, featuring a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, dual P1+P3 electric motors, and a single-speed DHT transmission. It delivers an impressive CLTC-rated fuel consumption of only 3.15 L/100 km in charge-sustaining mode and a maximum combined range of up to 1,575 km. Launched in China in November 2023 with a price range of RMB 95,800 to RMB 123,800, the Starray EM-i highlights Geely’s leadership in energy efficiency within the new energy vehicle sector.
