In 2026, Chery Automobile announced that its self-developed "Rhino S all-solid-state battery module" has entered limited vehicle production, marking a significant breakthrough in battery technology for new energy vehicles. The battery cell boasts an energy density as high as 600 Wh/kg, delivering an additional 500 kilometers of range with just five minutes of charging and exceeding 1,000 kilometers on a full charge. More importantly, its safety has been dramatically enhanced— even when pierced by an electric drill, it neither catches fire nor emits smoke, and continues to discharge normally, effectively eliminating the risk of spontaneous combustion.
