Meituan is entering the automotive sales sector. On January 15, Meituan signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Xiche Future Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., aiming to build an integrated "car purchase and usage + local lifestyle" one-stop service platform. In the future, users will be able to browse and compare different 4S dealerships on Meituan just as they would select restaurants, view online showrooms, access group-buying discounts, check sales representative profiles, and complete purchases and reviews online. The platform will also enhance service transparency and employ virtual phone number technology to protect user privacy and reduce the risk of data leakage. Jiang Shunyu, CEO of Xiche Technology, stated that in the face of intensified competition in the automotive industry’s saturated market, improving service experience is crucial. The company aims to onboard more than 30 automotive brands and over 10,000 dealership outlets onto Meituan by the end of 2026. Some SAIC Roewe 4S stores have already joined the platform.
