Li Auto i8 Electric Drive Wins "Top 10 of the Year" with 720km Range and Just 14.8kWh/100km Energy Consumption

Recently, at the "China Heart" 2026 Powertrain Day and the 10th China Automotive Powertrain Technology Conference, Li Auto won the "Top 10 New Energy Vehicle Powertrain Systems of the Year" award for its self-developed high-voltage SiC electric drive system featured in the Li Auto i8. The system achieves an impressive electric drive efficiency of 93.08%, with full-stack in-house development spanning from power chips to control software. The vehicle delivers a CLTC-rated range of 720 kilometers and a remarkably low energy consumption of just 14.8 kWh per 100 kilometers. At its core, the system utilizes Li Auto’s proprietary hexagonal-cell-structure silicon carbide (SiC) chips, which offer lower internal resistance, faster heat dissipation, and more uniform thermal distribution under high-voltage, high-current conditions. Combined with Li Auto’s self-developed low-temperature, low-loss motor lubricant and a 97.8 kWh 5C ultra-fast-charging battery, the i8 can add 500 kilometers of range with just 10 minutes of charging—delivering both extended range and highly efficient recharging.
