Ford Motor Company is engaged in in-depth negotiations with BYD regarding battery collaboration, planning to source BYD batteries for some of its hybrid vehicle models. According to reports on January 16, the two companies are exploring specific cooperation mechanisms, including a proposal to use BYD batteries in Ford’s vehicle assembly plants outside the United States. As Ford gradually scales back its all-electric strategy and shifts focus toward hybrid vehicles, securing a stable and reliable supply of hybrid batteries has become a critical priority. BYD, with its mature automotive battery manufacturing capabilities, is poised to become a key partner for Ford. However, no final agreement has been reached yet, and discussions remain ongoing.
