On January 16, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with five other government departments, issued the "Interim Measures for the Management of Recycling and Comprehensive Utilization of Spent Power Batteries from New Energy Vehicles," aiming to standardize the recycling of power batteries. As China's production and sales of new energy vehicles continue to grow, the first generation of power batteries has now entered a large-scale retirement phase. Data shows that domestic battery recycling volume exceeded 300,000 metric tons in 2024, with a market size surpassing RMB 48 billion, and is projected to exceed RMB 100 billion by 2030. Future industry competitiveness will hinge on technological innovation, including advancements in recycling processes and the deep integration of digital technologies into full-lifecycle traceability management.
