On January 17, Apollo Go—the autonomous ride-hailing platform under Baidu—and AutoGo, a UAE-based company, announced the official launch of fully driverless commercial operations open to the public in Abu Dhabi. Starting immediately, local residents and visitors can hail Apollo Go’s fully autonomous vehicles via the AutoGo app. This marks the first time Apollo Go has introduced a publicly accessible, fully driverless mobility service overseas, as well as its largest-scale autonomous operation project in Abu Dhabi to date, representing a critical step forward for Chinese autonomous driving technology in terms of internationalization and commercialization.
