According to the latest Euro NCAP report, electric vehicles (EVs) have surpassed internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles in overall safety performance among more than 100 new models tested in 2023. The Mercedes-Benz CLA was named both Overall Best Performing Vehicle of the Year and Safest Small Family Car, achieving scores of 94% in adult occupant protection and 93% in vulnerable road user protection. The Tesla Model 3 and Model Y led their respective categories—Large Family Car and Small Off-Roader—with child occupant protection scores of 93% each. The all-electric Mini Cooper E was recognized as the Safest City Car, while the smart #5 stood out in the Large Off-Roader segment. The Polestar 3 earned the title of Safest Executive Car with a 90% score in adult occupant protection. Euro NCAP noted that emerging brands such as Leapmotor and Firefly are helping raise global safety standards, with advanced driver assistance systems and optimized vehicle structures playing key roles.
