Recently, the main structure of Aptiv’s Electrical Distribution Systems Wuhan plant and R&D center project was topped out, with full-scale production expected to commence in Q3 2026. Located in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone’s Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park, the facility is being developed by Wuhan Jingkai Industrial Investment Group and covers a total gross floor area of 36,600 square meters. It will focus on the R&D and manufacturing of key components for electric vehicles, including high-voltage wiring harnesses, battery and e-drive system harnesses, high-voltage charging connectors, and cables. As Aptiv’s first wiring systems manufacturing base outside its Shanghai headquarters, the new plant will further support local OEMs in Wuhan and serve the broader central China market, enhancing synergies among its manufacturing footprint in China. Since establishing its first electrical systems facility in Wuhan in 2007, Aptiv has made multiple additional investments to continuously deepen its presence in the new energy vehicle sector.
