Australian automotive media outlet CarExpert recently released its 2026 list of the "ugliest new cars," with the Hyundai Ioniq 6 topping the ranking due to its drooping rear-end design, which critics likened to an "Apple mouse on wheels." The IM Motors IM6 landed on the list for its tall, narrow proportions and an excessively protruding front fascia, drawing comparisons to both the Tesla Model Y and the Aston Martin DBX. The Lotus Emira was criticized for allegedly copying the front end of the Ferrari Purosangue while featuring a bland rear design. Other vehicles cited for controversial styling include the Mercedes-Benz CLA, Cadillac Lyriq, BMW XM (noted for its oversized grille and bulky stance), Mahindra XUV700, and Subaru Outback Wilderness. CarExpert emphasized that the rankings focus solely on exterior design and do not reflect poorly on the vehicles' performance, comfort, or build quality, adding that market acceptance remains to be seen.
