Tesla recently officially announced an update to its corporate mission, now stated as: “Our mission is to build a world of amazing abundance.” Previously, the company’s mission was “to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.” Tesla Vice President Tao Lin explained that this revision reflects the advancement of key technologies such as artificial intelligence, broadening the company’s vision and raising its ambitions—not only to drive the energy transition but also to help people achieve their ideal lives. The change reportedly stems from Elon Musk’s comments last December on X (formerly Twitter), where he expressed a preference for “amazing abundance” over “sustainable abundance,” as it conveys a greater sense of “joy.” The new mission also aligns with Tesla’s fourth “Master Plan,” released in September, which emphasizes promoting global prosperity through its products and services to create a safer, cleaner, and more joyful future.
