To celebrate Tochigi Toyota’s 80th anniversary and honor Tochigi Prefecture’s status as Japan’s top strawberry-producing region, a local dealer has unveiled the “Ichigo Crown” (Strawberry Crown)—a one-of-a-kind special edition vehicle available globally in only a single unit. Based on the Crown Sedan Z grade, the car features a pink-to-white gradient paint scheme adorned with illustrations of local strawberry varieties such as “Tochiotome,” a pink castle motif, and three beloved local mascots, creating a sweet and playful aesthetic that departs dramatically from the Crown’s traditionally serious image. Under the hood, it is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain producing a combined output of 234 horsepower and driving the rear wheels. The special edition was officially unveiled on January 18 at Tochigi Prefecture’s “Strawberry Kingdom Tochigi Day” event, where Governor Tomikazu Fukuda attended the unveiling ceremony dressed as the “Strawberry King.”
