The latest domestic spy shots reveal that the all-new plug-in hybrid Cadillac XT5 is currently undergoing testing and will become the brand's first model equipped with LiDAR. The vehicle will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine (115 kW) and a 165 kW electric motor, replacing the current 2.0T engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. In terms of intelligent features, the XT5 will be equipped with the “Xiaoyao SmartDrive” advanced driver-assistance system, co-developed by SAIC-GM and Momenta, supporting scenarios including highway driving, urban roads, traffic congestion, and automated parking. Notably, while the Chinese market has already entered the second-generation XT5 cycle, the U.S. market is still selling the first-generation model—a clear indication that China is significantly ahead in technological rollout. Comparable intelligent driving capabilities for the North American market are not expected until 2028.
