U.S.-listed insurer Lemonade recently launched a new insurance product specifically designed for autonomous vehicles, offering Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) users an upfront discount of up to 50% on their premiums. The discount applies to the mileage-based portion of the premium once the vehicle owner activates the FSD feature. Lemonade stated that as the safety of Tesla’s FSD system continues to improve, the discount could increase further in the future. In contrast, Tesla’s own auto insurance offers only a 10% discount to drivers who use FSD for at least half of their trips. Lemonade’s insurance plan consists of a base fee plus a mileage-based component, and this new discount specifically targets the latter, highlighting the company’s confidence in the safety of advanced driver-assistance technologies.
