Long-silent Zotye Auto is quietly making a comeback. Recently, the company’s Engineering Research Institute issued a large-scale recruitment notice, covering more than 20 core technical positions—including CAN bus diagnostics, chassis electronics, and closure systems—spanning the entire new energy vehicle R&D chain. According to insiders, the recruitment drive has already attracted a substantial number of applications, with about 20% of the roles having tentative candidates. Currently, Zotye has opened 49 positions across Jinhua and Hangzhou, including not only R&D roles but also functions in legal affairs, procurement, and securities administration. Despite selling only 14 vehicles in 2024, halting all production for the year, and reporting losses for seven consecutive years, the company is raising funds to restart production by disposing of debt-settlement shares and reaching a debt settlement agreement worth RMB 405 million with banks. Han Biwen, former Chery executive and newly appointed chairman, assumed the role of president in November 2025 and has clearly stated his commitment to advancing the implementation of new energy vehicle projects.
