On January 24, Dongfeng Motor officially launched the world's largest single-site intelligent manufacturing facility for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles in Shiyan, Hubei Province. Simultaneously, the plant rolled off its first model—the Dongfeng Tianlong KH tractor—built on the new D600 platform. Equipped with 288 robots, the factory features China’s first laser-welding line for commercial vehicle roof panels and achieves 100% automation in welding and painting processes. Integrated with digital twin technology and AI-powered quality inspection, the facility boosts production efficiency by 30% and has an annual capacity of 260,000 units. The Tianlong KH tractor boasts an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.396 and is powered by a Cummins integrated powertrain. It features a body structure composed of 71% high-strength steel in a cage-like design and includes an intelligent safety assistance system. Additionally, it is equipped with Dongfeng’s sixth-generation smart connectivity platform and a customized voice recognition system developed with iFLYTEK, comprehensively supporting total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization throughout the vehicle’s entire lifecycle.
