At the Fifth Session of the 14th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, Governor Meng Fanli delivered the government work report, stating that in 2026, Guangdong will adhere to prioritizing the real economy and taking manufacturing as its core strength, accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system with international competitiveness. The report emphasized vigorously advancing the intelligent, green, and integrated development of industries and promoting deep integration among innovation chains, industrial chains, capital chains, and talent chains. It highlighted the need to scale up and strengthen emerging sectors such as new energy, smart connected vehicles, intelligent robotics, aerospace, integrated circuits, low-altitude economy, and bio-manufacturing, thereby cultivating more emerging pillar industries. Additionally, the province will proactively lay out future-oriented industries—including sixth-generation mobile communications (6G), embodied intelligence, cell and gene therapy, brain-computer interfaces, hydrogen energy, and quantum technology—to accelerate the formation of new quality productive forces.
