Recently, overseas automotive media outlet BMW Blog revealed a set of spy photos showing the 2028 BMW M3 (codenamed G84) undergoing road testing. The new model remains based on the current CLAR platform and features extensive design cues from BMW’s upcoming “Neue Klasse” electric vehicles, while retaining the M3’s signature wide fenders and quad-exit exhaust layout. Although heavily camouflaged, the test vehicle appears to be in an early development phase. To comply with the upcoming Euro 7 emissions regulations, the car will be equipped with an upgraded 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six S58 engine paired with a mild-hybrid system. Additionally, according to insiders, the G84 M3 is expected to drop both the manual transmission and rear-wheel-drive-only variants, with all models coming standard with an automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive. This confirms that BMW’s high-performance M3 combustion-engine model will continue at least through 2028.
