During Winter Storm "Finn," Texas resident Jennifer Daniel attempted to get into her Volkswagen, only to have the door handle snap off due to ice buildup. In a TikTok video she posted, thick ice covers the car, and after yanking the door forcefully, the handle breaks loose—prompting her to exclaim, "You've got to be kidding me!" The clip has since garnered over 9.5 million views. Experts warn against pulling car doors aggressively in freezing weather, advising drivers instead to gently push the door first before slowly pulling the handle, or to use de-icer or lukewarm water (not boiling water) to thaw the ice. Forcing the handle could result in replacement costs ranging from $150 to $500. Many commenters suggested avoiding unnecessary travel during severe weather, while others speculated she was merely trying to retrieve something from inside the car. Jennifer has not yet responded to media inquiries.
