Citi recently added four battery manufacturers—Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), EVE Energy, Gotion High-Tech, and CALB—to its "30-Day Downside Catalyst Watch" list. The firm noted that persistent increases in the costs of key raw materials, including lithium, copper, and electrolytes, have raised market concerns about margin pressure on battery makers. This cost pressure could further squeeze companies' profit margins, exposing their share prices to near-term downside risks. Citi’s move aims to alert investors to the challenges these companies face regarding their ability to pass on costs and maintain profit stability.
