According to data from Gasgoo Automotive Research Institute, China's passenger vehicle market sales reached 30,069,485 units in 2025, up 9.03% year-on-year. BYD ranked first with 4.545 million units sold, followed by Geely (3.374 million units) and Chery (2.699 million units), securing the top three spots and demonstrating strong leadership among domestic brands. Volkswagen (2.581 million units), Changan (1.823 million units), Toyota (1.56 million units), SAIC-GM-Wuling (1.317 million units), Great Wall (1.142 million units), and SAIC Motor (1 million units) closely followed. Tesla, with 852,000 units sold, stood out as the only foreign new-energy automaker in the top ten, showcasing robust competitiveness. Analysts noted that leading Chinese brands continue to dominate thanks to the surge in new energy vehicles and overseas expansion, while joint-venture brands and mid-tier domestic automakers face mounting pressure to accelerate their transformation.
