On January 28, the first cell production workshop—Cell Workshop No. 3—of Chuna New Energy’s 70 GWh lithium battery project in Xiangyang achieved structural topping-out, marking the project's entry into a new phase of intensive main construction. Groundbreaking for the project took place on October 28, 2025, and it took only three months to complete the topping-out of its first core workshop, showcasing the "Xiangyang Speed." With a total investment of RMB 22 billion, the project is a key component of Chuna New Energy’s strategic layout of “One Headquarters, Two Centers, and Four Bases,” covering the entire industrial chain from cells and PACK to energy storage systems, with a focus on energy storage and power batteries. As a pivotal initiative in Xiangyang’s drive to build a RMB 100-billion-scale new energy industry cluster, the project’s rapid progress holds significant importance for optimizing the region’s industrial structure and promoting high-quality development. According to schedule, by February 6, over 80% of the individual buildings will have reached topping-out, as the project pushes full speed ahead toward early commissioning.
