Former *Love Island Australia* contestant Jessica Losurdo recently visited a mechanic for her car's annual inspection and was told by a technician that all four of her tires were "bald" and needed immediate replacement—at a cost exceeding AUD 1,000. However, having replaced her tires just last year, she grew suspicious and sought a second opinion. A different technician inspected the tires and concluded they were in good condition and did not require replacement. Jessica shared a video about the incident on social media, sparking widespread discussion. Some commenters noted that she was using high-performance summer tires (such as the Potenza Adrenalin RE003), which feature softer rubber compounds for better grip but tend to wear out faster. Others, including mechanics, argued that her tread depth was still sufficient. To verify, Jessica performed the Australian 20-cent coin tread test—a common method to check tire wear—and found that her tread depth exceeded the legal minimum of 1.6 millimeters. For now, it appears her tires are still roadworthy and do not need replacing.
