On January 29, Mazda announced that global cumulative sales of its compact SUV, the CX-5, have surpassed 5 million units, making it the third model in the brand's history—after the 323 and Mazda3—to achieve this milestone. The CX-5 was first unveiled as a production model at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and was the first vehicle to fully integrate Mazda’s SKYACTIV Technology and KODO: Soul of Motion design language, setting the tone for future Mazda products. Since its initial production at the Ujina Plant No. 2 in Hiroshima, the CX-5 has been sold in over 100 countries and regions worldwide and is manufactured locally in several markets, including Japan, China, Malaysia, and Vietnam. Since 2018, the CX-5 has consistently ranked as Mazda’s top-selling model globally.
