China’s largest smart ultra-fast charging station on expressways—the integrated solar-storage-charging ultra-fast station at Tonglu Service Area on the G25 Changshen Expressway in Hangzhou, Zhejiang—officially began operations on February 2. The station features 216 intelligent charging spaces and can serve over 6,000 vehicles per day at peak capacity. As of the end of 2025, a total of 71,500 charging connectors have been installed at service areas nationwide along expressways. This year, more than 10,000 additional connectors will be added, over one-quarter of which will be high-power fast chargers, further enhancing the travel experience for new energy vehicle owners. Additionally, during the 2025 Spring Festival holiday period (from 00:00 on February 15 to 24:00 on February 23), tolls will be waived nationwide on expressways for passenger vehicles with seven seats or fewer.
